THE BURIEN CHANNEL

TBC21

In February, 2003, the City of Burien launched its government channel, TBC21, on Cable Channel 21. The purpose of the channel is to distribute a variety of information about government, its programs, services and concerns. Our objectives are to provide information about programs and services offered by government departments, agencies, boards, commissions and government-supported agencies.

We hope to expand citizen awareness of government and its decision-making processes by exposing citizens to live and tape delayed government meetings, to enhance existing public information materials by using cable television as a public information tool and to use the channel to disseminate public safety information in emergency situations.

In May of 2009 the City of Burien moved into the new city hall/regional library building which is located downtown at 400 SW 152nd St, in Burien Town Square. City Council meetings are held in the first floor Multi Purpose Room. Council meetings are cablecast live on TBC21. The meetings are then rebroadcast during the same week of the meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m., Thursday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. Additional airings will occur during morning and midday hours if programming time permits. Regular business meetings are held the 1st, 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Meetings that fall on a holiday are canceled.

Check out our programming. Some of our evening programming is run monthly such as Sound Transit Board meetings. We also regularly add new programs we hope will be of interest and that will keep you informed on current issues and activities in the region and nationally. A new weekly schedule is posted to the City Web site on Mondays.
